Hart, Joel Tanner (11 Feb. 1810-2 Mar. 1877), sculptor, was born on a farm in Clark County, Kentucky, the son of Josiah Hart, a surveyor, hunter, and farmer, and Judith Tanner. He grew up in rural Clark County, where he received only about three years of elementary education. Despite this lack of formal education, he became an avid reader and took advantage of the library of local architect Philip B. Winn, who owned b (showing 500 of 12644 characters). |
