A painter of semi-abstract landscapes and ambiguous scenes with figures, John Hultberg studied at Fresno State College (B.A. 1943), with Mark Rothko and Clyfford Still at the San Francisco School of Art (1947-49), and at the Art Students League (1949-1951).
In 1952 he was a part of a show of new talent at MOMA and in 1955 was awarded first prize at the Corcoran Biennial.
He was a member of the National Academy of Design; he taught painting at the Art Students League and the San Fra (showing 500 of 1648 characters). |
