Julie Heyneman was known as a skilled portrait painter, a teacher and a writer.  She was born in San Francisco, California in 1867 into a large family. Her childhood was spent in San Francisco where she attended art classes at the Art Students League of San Francisco. She became so devoted to her art that her family chided her to spend less time on it.  Felling threatened by these attitudes, she wrote:  "I have come to the conclusion, one which has caused me not a little pain.&nbs (showing 500 of 4095 characters).
