| | Born in Cleveland, OH on Nov. 12, 1912. "Jud" Hurd studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. By 1920 he had settled in Los Angeles. He worked there in 1936-37 for Mintz Studios and drew the cartoon "Just Hurd in Hollywood." Following service in WWII, he returned to Cleveland and was based there until 1964. He then moved to Westport, CT where he remained until his demise on Sept. 14, 2005. Member: Nat'l Cartoonists Society.
