| Born in San Francisco, CA on April 11, 1872. Harker began art studies in her native city at the ASL under Emil Carlsen and Julie Heyneman and graduated from Vassar in 1893. In 1904 she taught in Santa Barbara at Miss Gamble's School and, after returning to the San Francisco Bay area, had further study under Piazzoni. She settled in Marin County (CA) in 1906 and made several trips to Europe where she studied in Paris at Académie Colarossi and with Castelucho and Mucha.
