Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Painter. Born in Fillmore, CA on Nov. 29, 1900. Hinckley studied in Los Angeles at the Otis Art Institute. By the late 1920s he had a studio in Santa Barbara and from 1936 to 1961 operated an art gallery in Fillmore, CA called the Artists Barn. Hinckley died there on July 28, 1987. A portraitist in his early career, he later painted landscapes. Exh: Palm Springs AA; Santa Barbara AA, 1930-36; Calif. Art Club, 1938; GGIE, 1939; Laguna Beach AA, 1940-42; Calif. WC Society, 1940-47; Calif. State Fair, 1940-47; San Diego FA Gallery, 1941; Santa Barbara Museum, 1951. WWAA 1953-62; lnvw.
