Charles Billings Hidley was born in Troy, New York on Sunday, March 13, 1921, and died near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Sunday, June 8, 2003. He was raised by his mother Myrtle and moved to New York City as a young boy. He gave himself the name Li as a young man. He served in the United States Army in Panama from 1942 through 1945 during World War II. Through the GI Bill Li was able to attend art schools in New York and Mexico City.
He studied at the Brooklyn Museum of Art school from 194 (showing 500 of 2462 characters). |
