Interested primarily in Native American pueblo dancers of northern New Mexico, Lila Hahn works in the medium of batik, but applies her dyes with 3-inch sponge brushes rather than with the traditional dipping technique. She is convinced that this method allows her to achieve a more even, richer saturation of color. Her subjects also include wildlife and landscape.
After one dye application is dry, she waxes over the color she want to remain, re-dampens the silk with water and applies the n (showing 500 of 799 characters). |
