This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A wildlife artist, Linda Herzog does oil paintings laden with fantasy images such as bulls and pigs flying through the air (When Pigs Fly), bats riding a whale-filled bubble (Fly Away Train), and acrobat stunts with interacting goats, fish, bears and birds (Earth's Totem).   She says that her art "comes from her dreams" and that her dreams are a "happy time".  She also gets many ideas from Marine World in San Diego and from her travels including Hawaii and Alaska.

Herzog was born and raised in Salt Lake City, and early in her painting years, did traditional wildlife images, encouraged by a mother and grandmother who were artists.  She married when she graduated from high school, and she and her husband, Ron, settled in Vista, California.  Her switch to fantasy subjects occurred rather quickly when she was doing a mural in 1995 for the bedroom of their son, who asked for the inclusion of imaginary creatures.  Responding to that request, she much enjoyed the process and from that time forward has done wide-ranging painting that also includes ostriches, monkeys and seabirds.
