| Painter, illustrator, pastelist. Born in Puyallup, WA on April 22, 1892. Holmwood began painting as a child and by age 15 was an accomplished artist. He and his three brothers were taught to play musical instruments by their father and traveled about as a band playing for dances and proms. After joining the Navy in 1918, he played in the band and upon discharge studied at the AIC. By the early 1930s he had settled in Laguna Beach into the former studio-home of Edgar Payne where he painted portra (showing 500 of 891 characters). |
