| Born in Oakland, CA on Aug. 27, 1908. A self-taught artist, Hecking was a sign painter in the San Francisco Bay area until about 1946. He then established a commercial art business in Berkeley and painted fine art in his leisure. He died in Oakland on Feb. 19, 1994.
