The following biography is based on information provided to AskART.com by Barry Hayman of Antiques on the Hill, Washington, DC. He researched Lucia Hollerith after purchasing one of her paintings at a yard sale.

Lucia Hollerith was a painter born in Washington, D.C. 1891. Her first art studies were with Lola McD Sleeeth at the National Cathedral School. She also studied at the Corcoran School of Art and with Karl Knaths, Henry Snell and Cameron Burnside.

She exhibited paintings at the National Academy of Design, the Society of Independent Artists, Southern States Art League, National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, Maryland Institute, and the Society of Washington Artists, serving as an officer of the latter in 1936.

She participated in the Greater Washington Independent Exhibition in 1935,
and was a member and exhibitor with the Arts Club of Washington for more than fifty years. She died in Bethesda, MD in 1982.
