A Federal Art Project artist and teacher and resident of Ottumwa, Iowa, Marion Gilmore was a painter, illustrator and cartoonist as well as educator. Art studies included the Art Students League in New York City, American Academy in Chicago with William Welsh in 1937, and time in Stone City, Iowa, home of Grant Wood.
Gilmore exhibited her work at the 48 States Competition in Corning, Iowa; the 1938 Iowa State Fair; and the Ottumwa Art Club.
