Mary Jane Henderson was born August 4, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan of
German and Welsh decent. She was the daughter of Herman Rabe, a
veteran police officer with the Detroit Police Department and Selma
Dell Rabe. The new family home was unfinished when the Depression
hit forcing them to move in. Henderson remembers lying in bed looking
at the stars in the sky through the half-finished roof.
She
married Francis P. Henderson in 1940 and started painting in 1946 while
pregn (showing 500 of 2251 characters). |
