| | Born in Berlin, Germany on July 7, 1883. Hendel studied art in Berlin and Paris, a pupil of Fernand Léger and Amédée Ozenfant. During the 1930s she immigrated to the U.S. She soon settled in San Francisco where she taught privately and in the adult education program. She died in San Francisco on June 26, 1970.
