Metta V. Strough Hills (1873-1964)
Painter. Born in Orleans, New York on April 1, 1873. Metta was the wife of college professor, Elijah Clarence Hills. The couple was in Winter Park, Florida (1898-1902), New York (1903), Colorado (1905-1918), and Bloomington, Indiana. By the 1920s they they were in Berkeley, California where Metta was a pupil of John Gerrity, Ray Boynton, and Hans Hofmann at the University of California.
