| | Born in Bayfield, WI on Feb. 7, 1877. Herbert studied at Columbia University, UC, and the School of Applied Design for Women in NYC. She taught art at Lincoln High School in Los Angeles for 40 years. Upon retirement in 1950, she moved to Laguna Beach where she remained until her death on May 3, 1968. Late in life she married Englishman John Hewett. Her painting subjects include marines, eucalyptus groves and the coast at Laguna. Member: Pacific AA; Laguna Beach AA.
