| | Born in Wisconsin on July 12, 1888. Nicola Maynard arrived in San Francisco in 1902 and studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. By 1922 she had settled in Sacramento where she married Otho Hardaway. For many years she worked as a clerk at McClellan Air Force Base. A divorcée, she died in Sacramento on March 17, 1972.
