Oksar Hofinger was born in Golling an der Erlauf, Lower Austria, in 1935. He currently lives and works in Vienna.

He apprenticed in Kerammodelleur Krumnubaum northeast at Hanakschüler Hans Scheibner from 1950-52 and proceeded to study at the College of Wood and Stone Sculpture in Salzberg from 1952-56 followed by the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, from 1956-61 with Herbert Boeckl. During the 1960's he developed an interest in monumental Cubist sculpture made from wood, stone, bronze and stainless steel. His abstract and geometric work explores elements of symbolism, light and shadow while retaining a touch of figurative.
