| | Born in Coburg, Bavaria on March 16, 1907. Hans arrived in San Francisco in 1922. He worked as a janitor at the Palace Hotel while studying at the CSFA in the early 1930s under Boynton, Oldfield, and Randolph. From there he continued on a scholarship at the ASL of NYC.
