| | Born in Loma Linda, CA on March 1, 1914. Hirst grew up in Riverside, CA and graduated from UCLA in 1935. She was employed by the Federal Art Project in 1939 to design and paint a mural in the Banning (CA) High School. In 1941 she married sculptor Robert S.
