This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Raymond Harris-Ching's family sailed from England to New Zealand in 1840. Today the artist lives in England but, maintains a studio in New Zealand where he paints the bird life of New Zealand's rain forests.
Harris-Ching is a careful student of an animal's appearance and features. He has a large collection of bird skins to study and use in capturing the accurate detail of the feathers and markings. Harris-Ching's fascination and love of birds is evident in his paintings which are often portraits on simple natural backgrounds.
