| Born in Brooklyn, NY on Jan. 7, 1917. Hackett came to the San Francisco Bay area as an infant. He was raised in Berkeley, Antioch, and Palo Alto and attended the public schools there. Having opted for an art career, he studied at the CSFA in 1936-39. He then spent a few years painting in the Mother Lode country and working for the U.S. Forest Service in the state of Washington. From 1944-46 he ran the art gallery at the SFMA. Following his marriage to artist Beverly Leslie, he settled in N (showing 500 of 817 characters). |
