This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Creating meticulous, panoramic landscapes, Richard Heisler records the rural landscape of Amish country in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Ohio. As a child he was taken by his family to many historical sites and became impressed with the Amish peoples' keeping of their own ways of family, tradition, and community removed from modern society.
Like the people he admires, Heisler has no television, computer or car and works from a small studio apartment in Santa Fe, having moved there from Seattle, Washington.
