Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Robert Hansell established his reputation as a still-life painter, particularly using trompe l'oeil in acrylic and casein to achieve the illusion of cut-out and collage.
Hansell studied at The Cooper Union in New York City where he received his B.F.A. in painting, sculpture and graphics.
