| | Born in Seattle, WA on July 26, 1896. Hestwood moved to San Francisco in 1912. After serving in WWI, he studied at the CSFA and taught children's classes there in 1926-28. In 1926 he illustrated the book Gawpy (a book of verse by Harold Hestwood). During the Depression he abandoned art and worked as an allowance specialist for Harbine Engineering. During WWII he served in the Navy and then returned to San Francisco. He was a resident there at the time of his demise in Santa Cruz, CA on Nov. 14, 1962.
