This biography from the Archives of AskART:
New York City sculptor Sabin Howard is known for his figurative sculpture in the manner of Donatello and Rodin.

Howard was exposed to fine art at an early age, but it was not until he was 19 and had dropped out of college after majoring in English that he decided to study art. After compiling a portfolio of drawings he was accepted to the Philadelphia College of Art where he studied with Martha and Walter Erlebacher, Anthony Visco and Harvey Citron.

Sabin Howard has a strong work ethic; he is usually working in his studio ten hours a day, six days a week.  His goal in sculpting is to "capture the internal pressure of the figure so as to create a sense fullness and fleshiness."

Sabin Howard was a recipient of the McGrath Grant for Sculpture from Long Island University.  He is a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society and teaches at the New York Academy of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
