| | Samuel Lightner Hyman was born in Honolulu, HI on Sept. 15, 1885. While in San Francisco in 1902-04, Hyman studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. After obtaining degrees at UC Berkeley and Columbia University, he further studied in Paris at Ecole des Beaux Arts. He died in San Francisco on July 13, 1948. | Source:
