This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Steven Heyman was born and raised in Southern California. He had moved to Chicago in 1978, and completed his master's degree at the Chicago Art Institute. What really got him going was the almost blinding sight of white-hot steel being poured in a Chicago foundry. Soon after he saw that, light itself became the subject and subtext of nearly all his abstract and mysterious paintings.
