Artist Statement:
After a 30 year break, I started painting again...en plein air...outdoors on location. Painting outside is like being a part of nature and trying to express what you see and feel. My style is fast and furious as I try to capture the moment when sunlight reflects brilliant colors, or when the sun is blocked by a cloud and you must immediately decide what color to choose. It's an ongoing process, an adventure that is never the same. I've been a resident of Benicia and taught high school ceramics at College Park High School in Pleasant Hill before starting my own investment business. I started painting 2 years ago while taking workshops from Nikki B. Davis and Jerrold Turner both members of the Outsiders (a bay area painting group).
Using lots of paint applied with a brush or palette knife I paint in a colorful impressionist style. I have shown my work at various galleries in Benicia and participated in various shows, auctions and open studios with Arts/Benicia. My favorite artist is Monet and the works of the Outsiders. I'm looking forward to expanding my affordable art to everyone who loves the freshness and spontaneity of plein air.
