| | Born in Japan, he came to the United States in 1981 and devleoped a style of abstract painting that merged eastern and western cultures. He sought to maintain Japanese aesthetics while embracing modernism, particularly Abstract Expressionism. Many of his works are abstract landscapes. He died in his sleep in 1998. |
