Source - Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph newspaper article dated 3/8/1969

(Excerpts).....A storage jar made of Egyptian Paste and Earthenware Clay created by Wayne Higby, son of Mrs. Betty Higby and the late Don W. Higby has been selected for Object USA. Prepared in New York by the Museum of Contemporary Crafts and the Lee Nordness Galleries, and financed by Johnson's Wax Corporation. Objects USA is similar to art USA, an earlier collection of contemporary paintings.........

Higby has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Colorado and recently received a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Michigan. He currently (1969) heads the Ceramics Department at the University of Nebraska.

He has received two National Merit Awards, Craftsmen USA '66, two top purchase awards, second invitational exhibition of Michigan Ceramics; purchase award and two honorable mentions, Great Lakes Ceramics Show, and a first award Southwest Craftsmen.

He has shown wood prints and sculpture in Colorado Springs. His Raku ceramics have been shown at the Denver Art Museum, Cranbrook University, Bloomfield, Michigan, Rackham Galleries, Ann Arbor, and at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York.

In 1963 Higby made a trip around the world visiting 20 countries, and in 1956 studied ceramics in Florence, Italy. During the summer of 1967, he taught at the Manitou-Wabing Fine Arts School, Parry Sound, Ontario.
