Wes Hall (1934-)

A painter,  visual educator, and muralist, he has been a art director who enthusiastically promotes the visual arts.

Hall was born in 1934 in Toledo, Ohio.  He was a  three year art student art the Toledo Museum  while attending Scott High of Toledo, Ohio.  He attended Bishop College and Cal State L.A. (B A degree) and UCLA (M A degree).

Hall has a storied history in U.S. Art.  He has been featured in art books (Black Artists On Art - Lewis ) and many news journals including the L A Times.  Hall's commissions include theme paintings for the Martin Luther King County Hospital in Los Angeles, NBC , CBS, and ABC television in Los Angeles.  Commissions also include church murals throughout the U.S..

Hall  has created commissioned commemorative portraits for UCLA (Mayor Tom Bradley), NBC TV ( anchorman Jess Marlow ), MLK Hosp.(Dr. MLK Jr) , A. Phillip Randolf, Nancy Wilson, Malcom X , conductor Dr. Jon Robertson, Ray Charles, James Baldwin, Corrhetta Scott King , and Nat King Cole. (partial).   Freelance work includes  " Star Trek " the book- Desilu Studios , Fran Parker, The National Urban League , ACTSO ( national high school Academic competition sponsored by the NAACP , NAPSY, Vignette Films ("Fat. Albert "), UCLA ( animated  film ) and CBS Educational Films. (partial ).

Wes Hall Jr.s' latest creation was a commissioned visual for " Simply Sharon's " restaurant, a New Orleans Creole and Cajun food center.  Wes' oil painting features three New Orleans greats in the person of Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, Winton Marsalis  and "big" Al Hirt. These world renowned brass men are featured to remind patrons to "Never Forget" the people and the struggles of "Katrina and B P, and how they can return to a New Orleans of greatness.
