Wilbur Lloyd Haynie
July 15th, 1929 - March 5th, 2013

Wilbur Lloyd Haynie was born on July 15th, 1929 in Camden, Arkansas. He was the only child of Raleigh and Gertie (Edwards) Haynie.

He attended public school in both Oregon and Texas. He joined the United States Marine Corp at 16 years old and served active duty in WWII from September 1945 - November 1946 with an honorable discharge.

He enrolled at County Museum of Art in Dallas, Texas then on to Allied School of Art in Glendale California, Wiley College in Marshall Texas and Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles California where he earned an MFA.

Among his many Accolades he received several major Art Awards and several Honorable Mention Awards. In addition to being named in numerous books and publications in the art world. He participated in many invitational and juried shows such as, Annual Newport Harbor Exhibition, Newport Beach, CA, International Art Exhibit, Laguna Beach, CA and Eight Afro-American Artist, Geneva, Switzerland. He was also featured in Ankrum Gallery "One-Man Show" Art Exhibit. His work is represented in public and private collections.

In addition to his paintings, he also lectured and instructed drawing and oil painting at Cal State Northridge and later at Pasadena City College before retiring to a private life.

Wilbur loved the solitude and tranquility that nature provided for drawing and painting.
