William A. Hill (c. 1886-1969)
He was an artist of unusual natural talent being, for the most part, self taught although he did study briefly at Boston University. He also was fortunate in having been a student of Lester Stevens, ANA whose methods and direction Hill regarded as a gospel of painting. As a disciple of Stevens, he painted mainly outdoors, working for three hours at a stretch which is as long as light anywhere remains the same. He painted New England landscapes.
