| Born in Reading, Massachusetts, he graduated from the Normal Art School, the Museum of Fine Arts School, and Columbia Teacher's College in New York. He taught art in public and private schools for thirty-five years and went to Rockport, Massachusetts in 1920. He is known for impressionistic ocean views and for his vibrant palette of "split complements," blue-green and red-orange. |
