| Born Chelsea, WI, Mar. 10, 1885;. died Portland, ME, May 1970. Painter. Illustrator. Etcher. Teacher. Graduated from Syracuse University in 1908. Studied with Richard Miller at the Art Students League, NY, and with John Paul Laurens at the Academié Julian in Paris. Taught at University of Kansas, Lawrence, 1916-22, as a drawing instructor. In 1923 he was Director of Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts and Columbus Art School in Ohio. In 1925 he was Director of Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo, 10 (showing 500 of 2007 characters). |
