|  Born in Andretta, Italy on Feb. 17, 1888. Ianelli came to the U.S. as a child. He studied art with George Bridgman, Gutzon Borglum, Wm St John Harper, and at the ASL in NYC and Newark Technical School. From 1911-13 he was an instructor at the Los Angeles Sketch Club and was active in Los Angeles until 1915. His last 50 years were spent in Chicago; he died there on March 23, 1965. |  A sculptor, designer, painter and teacher, Alfonso Ianelli was born in Andretta, Italy, and died in Chicago, Illinois. He came to America with his parents when he was a child and studied at the Art Students League in New York with Gutzon Borglum, George Bridgman, and William St. John Harper.
He became a designer of appliances and furnishings for manufacturers and was an instructor of art at the Los Angeles Sketch club (1911-1913) and at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts (1923-24). He spent the last fifty years of his life in Chicago where he exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago.
