| Born in Oakland, CA on July 15, 1899. Estelle was raised in an artistic milieu, her father, Bradford Peck, was a landscape painter-piano tuner and her mother, Bertha Apfels, an opera singer. At age 12 Estelle moved with her family to Los Angeles. Upon graduation from high school she studied at Otis Art Institute. In 1929 she married Arthur Ishigo, a Japanese-American.
