This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born on July 6, 1885, “Frank” Imrey studied in Paris at Ecole des Beaux Arts and in Budapest at the Royal Academy.  While serving in the Hungarian Imperial Army during WWI, he was captured by the Russians and escaped across Siberia and China.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1923.  By 1940 he was a teacher at the National School of Art in Washington, DC. He died there in March 1963.
