Biography from AskART:
| Source: "40 Watercolorists and How They Work" by Susan E. Meyer, Watson-Guptill Publications
Watercolorist Joseph Ireland was born in 1936 in Montrose, Pennsylvania. He studied art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has worked as an illustrator in both Chicago and Seattle.
Joseph Ireland finds great satisfaction in the watercolor medium. Inspired by the watercolor work of Thomas Eakins, Ireland seeks to extend the range of watercolors. His paintings appear more solid and soundly designed than the typical watercolor painting.
Ireland has exhibited in the Northwest and has been awarded many honors for his work including the Northwest Watercolor Society Transparent Watercolor Award and the Frye Museum Arturro Ricci Award.
