This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Syracuse, New York, he became a painter of modernist work that often had a threatening or menacing quality such as bold interiors with empty chairs and shadowy walls that suggested loneliness and abandonment.
He studied at Syracuse University and received an M.F.A from Yale University in 1955. He has worked as a commercial art director for fashion magazines including "Seventeen" and "Harper's Bazaar," and also taught at The Parsons School of Design and the Rhode Island School of Design. |
