| Born in Ufa, Russia on Oct. 28, 1894. As a child Nadine began painting in the family garden and was encouraged by her parents to pursue an art career. After high school she moved to Petrograd for art training at the Imperial Academy of Art under Nicholas Roerich. Upon graduating from that school with honors in 1917, she married Peter Ilyin. Due to the revolution they left Russia in 1918 and lived in Japan for four years. While there, she received a mural commission for the Russian Church at (showing 500 of 988 characters). |
