| Born on Oct. 14, 1903 in San Francisco, CA, the son of painter Hallie Hyde and journalist Will Irwin. In 1910 the Irwin family settled in Brookdale in Santa Cruz County. Raised in an artistic milieu, Wm Irwin was first taught to paint by his talented mother. Following his education at Stanford University, he pursued art studies at the CCAC, Académies Moderne and Colarossi in Paris, and at UC Berkeley under Hans Hofmann. He later taught art at Santa Cruz High School and at San Francisco State (showing 500 of 1054 characters). |
