Willoughby Ions (1881-1977)
According to papers at the Virginia Historical Society, she was born Estelle de Willoughby Ions in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of Robert Nevins Ions and Cecilia (Goodman) Nevins Ions. She became a noted composer, painter, poet and dramatist and designer of batik gowns. In the 1930s, she even wrote a full-length opera called All in a Golden Springtime.
