| Born in Philadelphia, PA on March 12, 1885. James studied at the CSFA under Bufano and Stackpole. In 1911 he settled in Carmel, CA where he further studied under Jo Mora. He lived on the Monterey Peninsula except for the years 1926-38 when he was in Pasadena. He died at his home in Pebble Beach on April 21, 1961. His work includes portrait busts, architectural and animal sculpture. Exh: Painters & Sculptors of LA, 1928; Calif.
