| From San Francisco, Caroline Martin was a painter who studied with Maurice Sterne at the California School of Fine Arts in 1935. She was a member of the San Francisco Society of Fine Artists and the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors. She exhibited in California and the Art Institute of Chicago.

I have a small abstract painting (c. 1950) with the following additional info on the back:
In 1989 she was living in San Francisco. However, by 1948, she had spent over a quarter of her life in Europe. The Dec. 20, 1933 San Francisco News included an article: "Local Girl Who Turned Back on Society Wins Art Laurels in Paris."
She was the sister-in-law of artist Louise Janin.
