A D. W. Jayne anecdote:
I was a student of Mr. Jayne in the early sixties at Sacramento State College; a very educationally permissive time. Mr. Jayne (referred to by his students as DR. Jayne...) was truly a beacon in these confusing years. His knowledge of sailing ships and his ability to draw them is the stuff of legends. He was asked a question at the beginning of class concerning the name of a particular mast on a ship and proceeded to illustrate a seven masted ship (showing 500 of 1345 characters). |
