This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A painter and illustrator whose style is sometimes traditional and sometimes abstract, Donal Jolley was born in Zion National Park, Utah (he alleges he, born prematurely, is the only person ever born in the Park), and settled in Rimforest, California from 1970.
In Zion, his father was a chief forest ranger. Donal learned basic drawing in high school and then attended Brigham Young University from where he was drafted into the Army. He won an Army Commendation for illustrations, and then after graduation from Brigham Young worked for ten years as an illustrator.
A favorite medium is watercolor.
