Born in Kansas City, MO on March 16, 1896. Jones began her art studies at the AIC. By the early 1930s she had settled in Los Angeles and further studied at Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes. During WWII she painted portraits of servicemen in Navy and Army hospitals. Jones died in Orange County, CA on April 1, 1985. Exh: Calif. Art Club, 1934-38; Women Painters of the West, 1934-35; Chamber of Commerce (Santa Paula), 1937; Ebell Club (LA), 1939 (1st prize); GGIE, 1940. In: Athletic Club (LA); LA Conservatory of Music; Birmingham Hospital; Bethlehem Pacific Coast Co. (mural).

Biography from Covington Fine Arts Gallery, Inc.:
A painter, muralist, illustrator, writer, teacher and lecturer, Elberta Jones was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 16, 1896.  She began her art studies at the Art Institute of Chicago, and by the early 1930's, she had settled in Los Angeles and studied further at the Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes.

During World War II, she painted portraits of servicemen in Military Hospitals.  She stayed in Southern California and painted until her passing in Orange County, California.

She was a member of the California Arts Club and Women Painters of the West.

She exhibited at the International Aeronautical Exhibition in 1937, The Ebell Club, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California Art Club, Women Painters of the West and other venues.
